Conversely, the documentary Romeo Santos: The King of Bachata explores the evolution of Bachata, guided by fellow Dominican artist The Kid Mero, who narrates its journey from humble beginnings in the Dominican Republic to significant global acclaim. The film includes intimate performances on Santos’ “La Gira del Pueblo” tour, where he offers free concerts in small towns, many of which have never hosted a live performance before. Amongst these engagements, viewers gain insight into Santos’ creative process as he diligently works on new, unreleased music.
